Aragón (2)

The Aragonese Community hoards a great touristic potential that leans on its privileged geographic situation and modern cultural, sports, and hotel infrastructures. The most veteran winter sports station in Aragón is Candanchu, with its 42 kilometres of tracks and 16 itineraries, plus an international track connected with the French station of Somport. Very close to Candanchu, is the station of Astún. Cerler, on the other hand, is located at the heart of Benasque valley, and is the highest station of all the Pyrenees. Finally, in the centre of the Aragonese Pyrenean are the facilities of Formigal and Panticosa, in the heart of the Tena Valley.

Aragon has also become one of the preferred places for rural tourism lovers. Little dream villages offer its visitors comfortable rural houses and there it is possible to enjoy in your leisure time a way of life closely connected to nature. The mountains, rivers and valleys in the north coexist in Aragon with deserts and steppes more to the south, the Monegros desert being the most known. Paragliding and trekking are the most demanded activities in these places.

The large number of paleontological deposits in Teruel has been well-known for a long time by experts as well as by the general public. The remains of dinosaurs in Galve and Peñaroya are very impressive, but the presence of footprints and fossils distributed all over the province are impressive as well. Dinopolis is a theme park located in Teruel that offers a mixture of fun and culture around the dinosaurs. During the visit, while the adults enjoy the originality of the museum, children will be able to enjoy activities and games related to these fascinating ancient creatures.

Cultural tourism is another of the many attractions of Aragon, which relies on a rich heritage accumulated through many centuries. The Monastery of San Juan de la Peña, symbol of the birth of the Christian kingdom, and the Aljafería in Zaragoza, a memory of the passage of Arabs through these lands, are some examples of the cultural diversity in Aragon history. Teruel is the capital of the Mudejar art, an architectonic style of Arab and Christian influence that lays out great part of the Teruel and Zaragoza provinces.
